Social Event in the Mountains

SuperFOx 2025 - Saturday Event in the Mountains
 
 
A Social Event will be held in the Mountains around L'Aquila, on February the 22th (Saturday).
 
We ask all conference attendees to confirm their participation in this event by submitting the form available at:
A participation fee is required to contribute to the costs of the event as explained below.
 
Tentative Program (22/02/2025):
    Departure: From Fontana Luminosa (L'Aquila city center) at 9:30 AM with private buses organized by the conference.
    Arrival at the destination: Around 10:30 AM.
    Hike/Snowshoeing: Approximately 2–3 hours.
    Lunch: Near the hiking area (specific venue to be determined).
    Return to the city: After lunch, with an estimated arrival at approximately 4:30 PM.

This event can proceed under most weather conditions. However, in the case of heavy rain, it may be reconsidered. The organizers and alpine guides reserve the right to cancel/suspend/modify the event at their discretion, particularly in the case of unfavorable weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. In the case of complete cancellation (no hike/snowshoeing, neither lunch), the fee for the Saturday Social Event will be reimbursed via bank transfer (all necessary information, such as the IBAN, will be requested afterwards, in the case of cancellation of the event).
 
Difficulty:
No specific challenges for participants in good health.
The hike will be led by certified alpine guides and professional mountain leaders.

Required Equipment:
    Snowshoes (provided by the conference organizers)
    Telescopic poles (provided by the conference organizers)
    Waterproof boots suitable for hiking/snowshoeing
    Backpack
    Thermos and Snacks (recommended).
Clothing:
    Suitable for snowy mountain conditions or aerobic mountain sports
    Windproof jacket
    Hat and/or Beanie
    Sunglasses or ski goggles
    Sunscreen
    Gloves

Lunch:
The conference organizers will coordinate with local restaurants near the hiking area to offer meat-based, vegetarian, and vegan menu options (where possible). Please indicate your preference on the form and specify any allergies or dietary restrictions.
 
Participation Fee:
We request a participation fee of €50 to contribute covering the expenses for the Saturday Event in the Mountains. This fee will contribute to cover part of the costs for participation in the event: 
bus transportation, lunch, alpine guide services, and the rental of snowshoes and telescopic poles. 
Note: the participation fee for the Saturday Event in the Mountains is not included in the registration fee for the conference.

Additional details on the event:
The recent snowfall has completely blanketed the entire mountain range in white. We propose a group snowshoeing experience for those who wish to connect with the fascinating winter environment. Participants will use an ancient tool for their journey: snowshoes.
There are numerous areas and locations accessible by snowshoes, offering breathtaking and unique panoramas. The proposed locations for the various itineraries are listed below. The actual snow cover will ultimately determine the best area for the planned activity. However, the hypothetical routes outlined below can also be completed without any issues in cases of limited snowfall.
Possible locations include Monte Cristo, Campo Felice and Ovindoli: The final location will be decided by the organizers on short notice, depending on the weather.
